Kelvin Daye was awaiting deportation when authorities stumble upon
something fascinating. You see, Daye was finishing up a sentence stemming from
an arrest in 2006.
As a felon in Connecticut, it is mandatory for authorities to get a DNA sample for their database. The sample that was taken from Daye was put into the system and bingo, came back a match to a cold case file in that state.

Kelvin Daye became the prime suspect in
the rape and murder of Trupti Patel. He was rearrested and is now facing
capital murder charges along with other secondary charges. Kelvin Daye held a
gun to a woman's head and pulled the trigger after raping her. Raping her was
not enough. For that, he deserves to be put to death.

Kelvin Daye, 43, was
found guilty of murder, felony murder, capital felony and first-degree
kidnapping in the 2004 killing of Trupti Patel. He was acquitted of first-degree sexual assault and one count of
capital felony.
Still, with that
conviction, he faces a life in prison without parole when he is sentenced.

Kelvin Daye was
sentenced to life imprisonment without the possibility of parole.
